Red Bull Future 50 Competition Opens to Entries
The new Red Bull Future 50 Competition is a search for the most ‘ambitious, disruptive and thrilling’ business start-ups in the UK. The Competition is being administered by Real Business, a digital, print and events organisation, alongside the energy drinks company Red Bull. Companies eligible to enter must be four years old or younger; show steady turnover growth; show steady employment growth; be innovative; and be ‘disruptive’. The entry deadline is 22nd July 2011. Mary Portas has been appointed to lead an independent review into the future of the High Street. The purpose of the review is to identify what government, local authorities, businesses and individuals can do to promote the development of more prosperous and diverse high streets. ELDC 2011 Annual Business Survey

Small Loans for Businesses
Loans of £3,000 – £20,000 are available to individuals, to support good business ideas that could be difficult to fund through other means. The loan can be used to turn ideas into a new business or grow an existing business if they can raise/contribute to a minimum 30% of the value of the loan. East Lindsey joins National Food Hygiene Scheme
From August 2011, ELDC will begin re-scoring all food businesses in line with the Food Standard Agency’s national five star scheme. ELDC currently operate a three star scheme specific to the District. The change will mean that wherever local people are in the country, they will be able to make meaningful comparisons between food premises before choosing where to buy from.
